Shire Youth Music Awards

The Sutherland Music Club's mission is to provide good music at an affordable cost and facilitate the advancement of music within the St.George & Sutherland Shire. One of the Club's major activities is the staging of the Youth Music Awards. Young artists, aged 13–18 years compete for a cash prize of $500. BEDLAM COMES TO KOGARAH! This much-loved event has become an annual tradition in Kogarah. Along Railway Parade visitors can see the competing teams ham it up in their colourful costumes and decorated beds during the traditional bed parade from 10.30am. Then its time for more laughs as the Bed Race heats begin all vying for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Place, Best Dressed Bed or Lucky Bed Prizes. Fun activities and lots of free stuff, a great day for everyone and not to be missed. As always all proceeds will be donated to The St George Hospital, this year the funds raised will go to the Rehabilitation Unit of the hospital. Bike to the Beach

Coinciding with NSW Bike Week, this fun fitness event covering five kilometres starts in Solander Field on Captain Cook Drive, Woolaware, and finishes in Lucas Reserve, Bate Bay Road, Cronulla. Registration opens at 11am until noon, and the supervised off-road course will be open between 11am and 1pm. Bring a roadworthy bike with working bell, a helmet and water bottle, and wear appropriate clothing, footwear and sunscreen. There will be face painting, fake tattoos, a jumping castle, games and a free sausage sizzle for all registered riders at the end of the ride. Over the past 62 years, the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race has become an icon of Australian summer sport. Participants from maxi yachts to weekend racers take part in this event, which began in 1945. The race start on Sydney Harbour attracts hundreds of spectator craft and hundreds of thousands of people lining the shore as helicopters buzz above the fleet, filming for TV around the world. Chinese New Year Festival/Celebrations
