Cronulla Beach YHA Accommodation Sydney Backpackers Newsletter #8 - May 2004 Hi Gang! Well despite best intentions I see it's nearly a year since my last e-mail to you all - Sorry! Summer has come and gone - the usual crazy season. Christmas was a riot, perhaps the highlight being the mid-day naked dancing on the pool table (nice one Donny!) And New Year's Eve saw most of the hostel celebrating atop Observatory Hill again, a great night for everyone. It hasn't been a fantastic summer for us out on the water - we only did one party pontoon trip, back in December. Not the most successful of days, we left with three boats afloat and returned with two. Perhaps the less said about that the better. ("Put it in neutral Oli"!) When I last wrote I was a free man but (unfortunately?!) that came to an end this February - I married my old girlfriend Fiona Birdsall. Attached are some photos of the great day! We honeymooned in Koh-samui in Thailand and had a great time. After nearly four years of operation the hostel has now been included in the latest edition of the Lonely Planet's Australia guidebook, and what a review they've given us: "This is one of the friendliest hostels we've ever visited, run by two gregarious brothers who know 'the Shire' inside out. Facilities are comfy and well maintained, with a cheery vibe from staff and travellers alike. You can also get the key for the Garie Beach YHA, and it's a great place to join others doing the 26km coastal walk or to get your surfing skills up." A big thanks to all of you who've helped us create this friendly atmosphere. Hopefully this review means we'll maintain our popularity throughout the winters as well as our wild summer months. Our growing popularity also means that we're bringing forward our plans to build an extension, hopefully by Christmas we should have an extra 22 beds in 4 more dormitories added. Come on back and see for yourselves!.
