Just a quick note to say "Hello from Cronulla" once again!! And to give you an update on what's been happening down under. Winter is slowly approaching here and the temperature is now a cold 18 deg C!! The good news is that we have been experiencing more consistent sizable surf - hopefully this will last for the upcoming surfing competitions, namely the Shark Island Shootout and the Billabong Pro Junior which will hit town the first two weeks of July. Mikel the mad fisherman has been at it again!! And below is a photo of his latest catch (of fish!!). Two 6 kilo snappers which were beautiful barbequed. On a sad note he has to go back to Basque (Spain) on the 17th July. We will be having a leaving party for him and will update you with the results in the next newsletter. As most of you are closer to Basque than Oz try to catch up with him for the many festivals over the summer period - the first big one is on 22nd July called Madalenas near Mundaka. I have returned from Bali to find the hostel still in one piece. Thanks to Liz and the crew. For those who have never travelled to Bali before the top sayings that you hear everywhere are: "Transport!! Transport!!" "Massage!! Massage!! Special for you!!" "Magic mushrooms!! Magic mushrooms!!" "Marijuana!! Marijuana!!" "You want sarong??" "Buy from me - good luck for you!!" "Sucki!! Sucki banana Mr??" "In Bali we have many temple!!" Our travels through Bali (after we had mastered the language!!) started at Kuta for 3 days, then we hired transport and went to Lovina - swam in the hot springs, went to waterfalls and the volcano before going down to Ubud for 5 days. I went to see a cock fight even though I know this is politically incorrect. However I was assured that the dead cock was used for soup that very night. Needless to say I backed 5 out of 7 winners!! From here we went to Gili Trawangan for 7 days (a tropical island off Lombok) then back to Kuta for some madness before home!! Thank you to Gaynor - an excellent travelling companion!!
