Hi guys and dolls!

2001 Cronulla Spring Fair

Cronulla Spring Fair 2001
|
Well, spring is finally here in Cronulla and to celebrate the weather getting warmer, the Cronulla Spring Fair took place in the mall over the weekend. There were hundreds of people enjoying the food and gift stalls, together with entertainment. See attached photos of the crowded mall, and Michael, Liz and Pete having some food.
We had the pleasure over the past month of having London black cabbie driver, Bobby, staying with us. At first, we hadn't a clue what he was saying due to his accent and interesting vocabulary! We can now share with you some of Bobby's classic cockney sayings in the following paragraph about one of his days here:
"Woke up this morning, jumped out of me tic tac onto me plates of meat and slapped on the kettle for a cup of rosie lea. Then down the frog and toad to the beach. Sat under the currant bun for a few hours and burnt me boat race. Then off to the nuclear sub to meet me old china plate. A couple of jars at the jump along with the oily rags, next thing me dog and bone's buzzing. It was the cheese and kisses given me an ear full. So went to have a butcher's hook for a left jab and out of there."
Which when translated means:
"Woke up this morning, got out of my bed onto my feet and put the kettle on for a cup of tea. Then went down the road to the beach. Sat under the sun for a few hours and burnt my face. Then went to the pub to meet my mate. A couple of pints at the counter/bar along with some cigarettes, and then my phone started ringing. It was the missus yelling at me. So went to have a look for a cab and left."
It's also goodbye to Liz, who many of you met since she arrived in Cronulla in February, and who has been working at the hostel since May. She flies home on Thursday back to Nottingham, England.
We also had a visit from Pete who presumably caught his flight home last night (having missed his first one a couple of week's ago) since he didn't come back. He will be working at home for a while before returning to Oz with a few mates later this year.
Take care, and until next month all the best,
Michael.
