Happy backpackers Sydney Hostel Australia
Review from Lonely Planet "Australia", 2004
"Around Sydney -- Royal National Park"
"Cronulla Beachouse YHA
This is one of the friendliest hostels we've ever visited, run by two
gregarious brothers who know 'the Shire' inside out. Facilities are comfy
and well maintained, with a cheery vibe from staff and travellers alike.
You can also get the key for the Garie Beach YHA (see below), and it's a
great place to join others doing the 26km coastal walk or to get your
surfing skills up. Catch the train to Cronulla Station, and keep walking
left until you reach Kingsway. Wheelchair accessible."
"Garie Beach YHA
This small (12-bed), basic (no electricity or phone, bring food) and
secluded hostel is close to one of the best surf beaches in NSW. You need
to book, collect a key and get detailed directions from the YHA Membership &
Travel Centre ... or from
Cronulla's YHA. The nearest food store is 10km away."
Backpacker Hostels Reviews and Testimonials:
I booked to stay 2 weeks & ended staying 6 months, its that good. Its an awesome place with awesome staff especially Mike who goes out of his way to find you work.
I first stayed in 2010. Only planned on staying a month, but its unique charm, friendly staff and amazing little beach town was too hard to leave, I ended up staying six months! And I'm back again this year.
This hostel is a home away from home for me! Mike and the rest of the staff do their best and get jobs for everyone! The beach is two minutes down the road and Cronulla has everything you need; cafes & bars, clubs and cute boutique shops.
The courtyard is always busy with people having a few sociables along with a few laughs!
When it comes to giving my final Goodbye to this place I know it will be hard.

On and off I've been staying at Cronulla YHa for about 10 months. I consider it a home away from home on the other side of the world. I love the fact the beach is 30 seconds away and that the town has everything you need. Mike is always getting jobs for people in the hostel. There's free pool, massive TV room to relax in and the staff are always happy to help. This will always be my first port of call in Australia, I've met so many friends here, and continue to do so.
This is the most fantastic hostel I ever stayed. There are lots of reasons to describe why, first of all, the location of the hostel is very nice, it just takes you about five minutes to the train station and two minutes to the beach. Also there are lots of restaurant nearby. There are Chinese restaurant, Thai restaurant and some Mexican restaurant too. The beach is very beautiful and the wave is big so you can surfing. Then the staffs of there are very nice, they like to help you, teach you. The rooms is very big, each of us have a drawer and a cabinet. Therefore you can put lots of your bags inside it. However the hostel is very safe and secure, you will never lose your things inside. Then, the kitchen is huge and you can cook very early and lately. It is very good for you to cook early when you get a train or plane in the morning. Last but not least there are some facilities are free of charge such as television and pool table. Finally, if you are looking for jobs, just come to Cronulla Beach YHA Michael and Danny would like to help you. I love the hostel, if I will go to Australia again, I must stay at least two weeks for there!
I've lived at the hostel for the last 9 months and can honestly say that I love it here!
I've met the most amazing people, and it is the only place I've been where everyone gets on. It is a home to most people who stay here, not just a hostel.
The job opportunites are a big help and the management will do anything they can to ensure travellers find work as soon as possible.
An awesome place to stay while in Australia. Run by very friendly staff who will always go above and beyond to help travellers with whatever they may need. The facilities are excellent and the atmosphere is always relaxed. I've lived at CBYHA for 9 months and will be sad to leave as it is by far the best place I've stayed in Oz.
The hostel is very close to one of the most beautiful beaches in Sydney. It will take you just a 2min walk to the mall of Cronulla where supermarkets, restaurants, clubs, pubs and bars are located.
Staff are super friendly and helpful, especially when you need a job. It is a working hostel which means that the potential employers around the area will call the hostel manager to get some backpackers for work. Long story short if you want a job, you will get a job for sure!
The dorms are comfortable and clean, the kitchen is big and has all cooking equipment you may need. You can find a pool table, computers, telephones and a radio there also.
Some days you just want to chill out, read a book or watch a movie - no problem! The hostel has a nice and big TV room with many books and videos you can rent for free. But this is at least not all you can rent for free, you can take surfboards also which gives you the great opportunity to learn to surf. I used the chance to do that and finally I can say that is is such an amazing and fun experience - especially when you have such a nice surf spot 200m away from the hostel.
When you stay in Cronulla of course Sydney downtown with its sights is a must-see. A 5min walk from the hostel to the train station and 55min trip will take you to the heart of the city!
A great place to stay! Staff are super helpful, friendly, and go above and beyond to help you out. Has all the amenities close by, and a well large well stocked kitchen, complete with pool table and internet. A good vibe, residents are friendly, many of which have been there for a while working on jobs organised though the hostel. Safe and secure. Probably the best place we've stayed in 5 months!
a fantastic place to stay (by far my favorite in Australia) and very addictive...for many reasons, first the hosts (Michael and Danny) that make you feel at home and so on...
I really missed you guys.
See you soon and keep rocking!
Someone in the office realised they had a few 30+ women staying. Used their brain and put us in the same dorm. It was an amazing example of synchronicity, saving us from the 18-20 mad life experience and gave us an awesome opportunity to socialise and to do the needed work, study and sleep. We had a great time and have made some significant professional and personal contacts. Thanks guys Deb.
