This hostel had a homely feel, with mostly workers/ long stayers, rather than holiday makers. But it was during winter so its probably different during summer. small with a relaxed feel.

What can i say? i loved this hostel in every way. the staff (espcially mike!) were awesome. Even though the rooms could be cleaner i felt like i fitted in straight away and i made friends instantly. the location is great, 5mins walk from everything u need - bars, restaurants, shops & beach. i know i'll be coming back to oz & this is where i'll stay! come to cronulla, you won't want to leave!!!

Well the time has come, i came for 6 nights, and im leaving after 55. Thats what Cronulla does to you. I arrived in Australia looking for a different kind of trip. After a couple of days in the great city of Sydney, i went to Cronulla Beach YHA. I'm not going to lie, those first few days in the hostel were tough, its a strange hostel unlike any other I have been to. My first night there was horrible, i arrived fairly late on a friday night and by the time i got there the place was riddled with drunken messes, later to be known as my friends. That night was spent looking at the beach and considering my plan for December. BUT then I got to know the people, I found work and i loved it. Over the next week the cronullans were meet , mainly over the pool table and football matches. The pool table, despite having a huge rip in the middle has caused the lose of many many hours while at cronulla. The hostel, although nothing special to look at, had a special atmosphere. When i arrived most people had been here over 3 months and had formed a connection to the place. So why do people stay here so long? The answer is simple. Combine a hostel that finds you work and a hostel that allows music, drinking and other 'activities' and you form a hostel that the backpackers love. We love being given freedom and a way to make money to spend on that freedom. I've had a few jobs while here in Cronulla i have :- •Picked weeds. It is as much fun as it sounds •Built Bins. Long Long hours, but good pay and a memorable christmas party, so im told •Dug Holes. Thank you Davo for that •Worked for Dyson. No hoovers for us •Mowed Lawns. A strangely addictive job •Delivery's. For $33 an hour may i add •Trimmed hedges And that is all. The most important thing is i have paid my way and made enough money for the next leg of my trip. So thats the work side of Cronulla, longs hard days sometimes but money is beautiful. The people i have meet here i don't think i will ever be able to explain to you. •Mr Rob- Not the last i will see off him, a poor pool player ;) and a peter H sense of humour. •Craig- Just Craig....Just Craig •Lou Man- a man who loves drifting and nature equally, farewell to my bunk buddy •Uncle Joe- the irishman of the room, i never did his laundry, sorry joe! •Breezy- The Welshman who bit me toe •Danny (love) - The guy from manchester may bullshit alot! but he walked me home form RSL so i am forevr in his debt •The French - UNBELIEVABLE ...LMAO •and many many many others who i am running out of time but will speak about some other time The rest of the time was spent either on the beach or in the courtyard Cronulla has been a good base for these 8 weeks. Christmas, New Year, Birthday, Australia Day I said farewell with found memories, will miss some people alot and will miss the character even more! Cronulla you will forever have a special place in my heart. Next to the Blue mountains with Rob Until Next Time Arthur http://arthurmooregapyear.blogspot.com

Enjoyed our stay in Cronulla. Australia is our 40th country to visit in twenty weeks. New Zealand is next and also our last country.
